An Emergency Meeting Was held last night in the hope to save the tradition that has been held here in Askeaton for the past 35 years or so. “Celebrating St. Patricks Day” This year is quite special as We have many other activities happening in the town in conjunction with the Annual Parade. The Askeaton Contemporary Art Group have gone to great lengths throughout the year to arrange Art events and on “Paddys Weekend” starting on the 15th local Man Seanie Barron will display his creative wood craft at the Civic Trust Building ( Tourist Office ) Askeaton On Paddys Day itself the Arts Group are Looking forward to welcoming back Jeronimo Hagerman. Based in Barcelona and Mexico City, Hagerman has produced sculptural installations and vegetation interventions in public spaces and museums around the world over the last decade, investigating the relationships between nature and the manmade. We are writing to all the local businesses to ask for your help and participation in the Parade. We would also Like to take this opportunity to Thank Joe Mc Carthy the founder of the Parade and his Family for the ongoing year after year organisation of the St Patricks Day Parade. The Parade has always been a great success and a great Family and Fun day for all. From and on behalf of the Committee we would like to invite you to the event in what ever capacity you can provide.
