An extra day in Kampong Chhnang gave me some time to look at this - TopicsExpress

An extra day in Kampong Chhnang gave me some time to look at this thing from a distance. Yesterday afternoon I took the boat out onto the river, in the mix of Cambodian fishing boats, and I thought hard about the stretch between here and Oudong. The highway veers away from the river for about 40 kilometers, so there are few towns. And the relative calm is maybe not calm enough. As of very recently, and thanks to you, I have collected enough money to buy 68 bicycles. That means every child at an SC school in Kravanh, Cambodia has a ride to school, like we did. Ive decided that there is a better and safer use for this boat. There is a woman named Heang who met us at the dock and who kept it at her house for these two nights. She is singlehandedly raising six children in a house in the floating village at Kampong Chhnang. She brought it back to the dock this morning at seven oclock. She said she needed a boat, in so many expressions, so I gave it to her. Shell make it work. Thats more than I can say with certainty about myself. Were leaving in the morning for the next part of this trip, but with someone else at a bigger helm. Ill still write about the rest of my departure, but it might be less adventure and more reflection. And of course your continuing donations will be taken directly by me to Kravanh after Christmas, and used to buy a bicycle, or to repair a classroom or house. I know a Cambodian builder who could use the work. Her boat had its own vision of its future, and Im happy to be the one to deliver it. It helped me to buy all those bicycles, and now it has become a bicycle itself. . . . . . . . . . . The need is still great. https://tinyurl/littlecirclecambodia
