Andy Paulios, who coordinates the Wisconsin Bird Conservation - TopicsExpress

Andy Paulios, who coordinates the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative (WBCI) through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Wildlife Management, reports some great news on the International conservation front. The National Park Service has worked with partners in Costa Rica on the Osa Peninsula to create a Sister Parks agreement. This important wintering area for many of Wisconsin’s birds will hopefully be strengthened through a richer partnership and information exchange between the two countries. WBCI partners have been working with Osa conservationists to help conserve, protect and restore critical habitat on the Osa Peninsula for such species as Baltimore Oriole, Golden-winged Warbler and JAGUAR!!! No word yet on the jaguar re-introduction program to Wisconsin…. For more information on how your Bird City community or organization can get involved with WBCI’s efforts please contact Craig Thompson, WBCI International Committee Chair at [email protected] or Andy [email protected] and they will point you in the right direction. There are a number of conservation birding trips scheduled for the area in 2014 which may be of interest to bird clubs, Audubon chapters or other WBCI partners!
