Another factor that generally keeps the world on the side of Israel is the very nature of right of return. Because Jews, and the definition of Jew for the purposes of this law is pretty broad- meaning anyone can convert to Judaism and move or have Jewish ancestry on either side of their family, can leave another country whenever to emigrate to Israel, they often end up with dual citizenship. Thousands of Israelis, especially in recent years, have also been seeking dual citizenship from many countries in the European Union. Additionally, the Israeli Defense Force has special programs dedicated to having foreigners move to Israel and join the military. The end result is that OF COURSE countries care more about Israel and the deaths of a few Israeli soldiers than about suffering Palestinian civilians because they have a nationalistic tie to them. In the context of international relations and policy it makes sense (though morally it is quite questionable) that if an American dies abroad the U.S. cares more, even if they have dual citizenship. While many Jews declare this right to emigration to be sacrosanct and key to the establishment of a Zionist state, it is conveniently not mentioned that the Law of Return is the corrollary to the Prevention of Infiltration Law, which makes it a crime for the refugees who fled from the 1948 war to return to their villages and city homes, while the Law of Return allows the unrestricted immigration of people which have no relationship with the land they settle into. So the very reason why the world is more invested in Israel is at the heart of the displacement and occupation of the Palestinian people. The result is that our countries, our leaders, and by extension-us, instinctively value Israelis over Palestinians. When you take a step back you can actually see that it is truly a brilliant strategy by Israel, not only can they subjugate an entire population, they can make the world support their actions. Then of course you remember this is the real world and REAL people are suffering and dying and in the end were all horrible and morally culpable for letting such crimes against humanity occur.
