Any entomologists out there - funny thing happened - there was a dying cicada laying on its back on my back porch a couple days ago I took a bamboo stick and let it grasp it and rolled it over upright. I could tell it was just about done for. Next day, it was dead and the lil bitty ants were working it over. Then something funny happened - the ants started to pile up dog fur, cat fur, grass, - all sorts of little things, all around what was left of the cicada - the next day it was a mound. WTF - why would the ants eat up the dead cicada and then bury it in a dignified way in a well constructed mound???
