Anyone watch Dr. Phil today? Online love scams. Totally hit close to home for me. As most of you know, I met my husband online. Many of you dont know that I was also scammed by a catfish before I ever met Dayvv. A catfish is someone who pretends to be someone theyre not using Facebook or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances. (Thankfully, I never gave this person any money, but I was lied to about everything). The show told brief stories of 6 women who combined have given over $609,000 to their scam artist love interest. The featured guest was a 70 y/o widowed woman who has given over $300,000 & 3 vehicles to her fiance, who shes been involved with for 3 years and never met in person!! FBI statics show that 6412 complaints were filed in 2013 with a total loss of nearly 82 MILLION DOLLARS!! Let me repeat that: 6412 complaints were filed in 2013 with a total loss of nearly 82 MILLION DOLLARS!! PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO CYBER SCAM ARTIST! That is all. End rant. Just wanted to put it out there. My heart broke for this little old lady that lost everything to a lying scam artist punk.
