Apart from the apologists of China in India, nobody will perhaps - TopicsExpress

Apart from the apologists of China in India, nobody will perhaps understand the China policy of the Government of the day. More than fifty years have passed since the conflict of 1962 but precious little has been achieved in proper demarcation of the border.Rounds of negotiations have been completed but our Government does not take the people into confidence about the exact position in the matter. In the name of dipl0macy, they observe a principle of golden silence.Border issue and repeated incursions apart ,Chinese claim on Arunachal, stapling of visas of Kashmiri residents show that it is not the intention of the Chinese to solve any of the outstanding problems except on their own terms only. Given this situation, it is not clear as to why we should accommodate Chines in trade. Our policy towards the Chines lacks any vision and direction. It is true that war is not the solution to many of these problems but we can name and shame them wherever warranted. On the contrary, our Government takes a defensive stand and often compares border incursions to acnes on an otherwise pretty face. They do not make any statement even in Parliament unless the stories are broken in the media. When will the Government understand that other than taking an offensive stand and a defensive stand, there is another option of taking a correct stand in the interest of the country and its people.
