Arctic air will surge south across the area late Monday into Tuesday bringing some of the coldest air of the season to Kansas and surrounding areas. Highs on Tuesday will struggle to climb out of the teens across much of the area while lows fall to near zero. Northerly winds at 15 to 20 mph will drive wind chills into the 10 to 15 below range across much of central Kansas. In addition, light snow will accompany the cold air with accumulations of 1-2 inches possible across central Kansas while a trace to 1 inch is expected further south across much of South Central and portions of Southeast Kansas.
