★ Are we seeking God’s blessings? Good wishes and blessings from God and from others that we come in contact with add richness to our life’s experience. The good wishes are the most prized thing we can get in our life which help me progress in my life. A king along with his troop had gone to a forest and unknowingly he wandered off and got lost. It was going to be night soon, so he started looking for a shelter. He saw a very dim light at some distance, so he hurried towards it and found a poor couple living in a makeshift house. He asked them if he could spend the night there as he is lost. The poor farmer said that there is nothing in his house and the king might not feel comfortable staying here but the king insisted. The farmer did his best to make the king feel comfortable; he stayed hungry to serve him the best he could manage. In the morning the king thanked the farmer and his wife and said that they could ask for any favour from him and he will grant it to them. The farmer told the king that as of now we have what we need. So the king handed him a ring. He said, “Whenever you need something from me, just come over and show this ring. Your demand will be met.” After some time there was drought in the village and farmer could hardly meet his basic needs. So his wife suggested that now is the time to ask the king for help. With a lot of hesitation the farmer went to the palace and after showing the ring, he was presented in front of the king. The king asked, “As promised, I will fulfill your desire. Please tell me what you want.” The farmer, hesitatingly said, “I need a cart full of straw.” This came as such a shock to king, who was expecting farmer to ask for something valuable, that he fainted. When he regained consciousness, his ministers asked him as to what the farmer asked of him. The king told everyone that even when he could have asked for everything I have, he asked for straw. If we look at ourselves, we are like that farmer; we are the children of the Supreme Being (God) and have access to his most prized blessings. However, we are most interested in asking for worldly things that are as priceless as straw (better job, expensive car, bigger house etc.) when compared to his blessings. While we are walking the path of God, we need to continue putting an effort making ourselves more and more worthy, to be able to win the love and blessings of God and from all those around us. The vibrations of thoughts that carry blessings encourage and enlighten us to go on doing things with confidence and no fear or insecurity. We need to remember to not pick straw when we are asked about our desire. In Spiritual Service, Brahma Kumaris ♥
