Are you serious Rumer? Is this 21st century thinking (im doubting it) or are you relying on conventional 20th Century Intellectual Thought? Please tell me that you havent penned the lives of these Marines on telephone calls... Quote from the movie A FEW GOOD MEN First and foremost let us remove Russia from the equation. Our difficulties and concerns are not towards Russia, our difficulties arise from Putins twisted ideologies and his regimes desire to carry them out. Most of the people of Russia do not respect or agree with this dictator, they only tolerate him because his power is great and he rules by fear of death if you speak out against him or his regime. Same thing goes for North Koreas Kim Jung Il, Syrias Al-Assad. The same principles apply in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, China, Cuba, the C.A.R. & certain parts of Africa and the list goes on. We can make the International case against Putin and his regime under Art. VII violations of the U.D.H.R. and violations of numerous other covenants treaties & accords in order to bring Putin and his top officials to the Hague for trial by jury. We do not need Russia for 40 Billion dollars in trade until Russia can act responsibly as a global participant for the vision and mission for World Peace and Security. We are simply addicted to this trade with Russia because our present politicians have that greedy addict mentality like wall street junkies, which is why we presently are and have been addicted to Saudi Oil. Break the habit! Change the dynamics! Evolve to become more fluid, creative and innovative in your thought and approach. May I suggest exploring the possibility of offering all of our European countries energy dependency from their addiction to Russia supply in order to sustain their respective economies? Supplement this energy dependency with Canadas Oil shale to be refined it in their own countries. We can offer supplemental trade for products & goods with every European Nation in exchange for the goods and products that Russia supplies and/or broker the services to obtain the goods that we cannot provide. As for the raw materials that Russia has the alleged biggest and most vast deposits of... Once we cut the head off the dragon, these goods will be sold for pennies on the dollar to every nation willing to buy anything from Putin or his despot regime. Once Putin is out of power and his despot regime are all locked up or overthrown by the people of Russia, then the new leaders of that nation can come to the table in order to fulfill and faithfully honor their obligations to the U.D.H.R. under Peace & Security and to the E.U. and all nations that Russia previously has made a pact with. As for Afghanistan transit... seriously? What business do we have in Afghanistan anyway other then to make sure that the G- ha - dists do not survive long enough to become a problem for our people or our allies? Drones resolve that concern. They fear drones more then an army of 250K because they can run and hide from an army behind a wall or fence or in a bunker, but they cannot hide from a drone strike no matter how deep they bury themselves in. I agree that we need Russia as a World Peace and Security partner and to be a world leader for International trade, but we do not need Putin or his tyrant regime that sends people out to shoot down civilian aircraft (accidentally or not) and we do not need Putin and his regime who acts like the new Napoleon(s). And the entire world can do without these Russian and Chinese U.N. Ambassadors who veto or abstain from voting upon world peace and security resolutions against nations that commit atrocities or violate the NNPT. Get you $h!t straight Rumor, because our greatest threat today is the 20th century thinking similar to yours, which is why we are in this mess to begin with. I have no doubt that you as an American can do much better. Break the mold to create a better, stronger and more united America.
