Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Announces Pre-Show 25th Annual Cape Cod Five Pops in the Park Centerville, MA, July 18, 2014 - Local music group Monica Rizzio & Old Kings Highway will open up the 25th Annual Cape Cod Five Pops in the Park concert on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Featuring a selection of folk music, the group will perform at 3:15pm shortly after the gates open and prior to the Cape Symphony s performance from 5-7pm. Vocalist Monica Rizzio Originally from Texas, Monica Rizzio is returning to her southern roots with her latest musical project, Monica Rizzio & Old Kings Highway. As the front woman of the band Tripping Lily for the last 10 years, Monica solidified her presentation of the Americana music genre and her new group bridges the best of folk, country and bluegrass. The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is pleased to continue a new tradition begun last year of presenting some of the Capes elite musical talent as a prelude to the Cape Symphony. Ms. Rizzio has appeared as a soloist herself and she and her new band are sure to provide a great opening performance, according to Kevin Howard, President & CEO of the Arts Foundation. Proceeds from the August 23rd concert enable the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod to fulfill its mission to support, promote and strengthen arts and culture on Cape Cod. In addition to its role as Barnstable Countys regional arts agency, the Arts Foundation awards grants and scholarships while supporting artistic, cultural, and educational programs throughout Cape Cod.
