As a new partner and member of the Chestermere community, Calgary Catholic Immigration Service (CCIS) is working with Rocky View schools and other service providers to offer support to new and settled Permanent Residents in the area. With open office hours on Monday mornings from 9am – 1pm in Town Hall, individuals are welcome to stop by without an appointment or contact Kathleen McMurray to book an appointment for alternative time: (403) 604-2377 or [email protected]. CCIS works to assist immigrant families to actively participate in their children’s school community by: • In-school workers providing orientations, cultural interpretation, crisis intervention and community connections • Information, support and referrals for students, families and educators • Liaison between families and schools, community and Canadian culture We can further assist families by bridging services offered in the local community relating to: • Housing (rent, utilities) • Health Care • Employment (Employee Rights & Labour Standards, Pay & Benefits) • Transportation • Accessing day care services • Communication (interpretation, translation & ESL classes) • School & Community Orientation • Professional Development (upgrading, credential recognition, registration in post secondary programming) Please contact Kathleen if you need any support.
