As a teacher for many years in the school system,many of us are so vexed by the constant dictating of new teaching methods. It seem as though everytime something new pops up created by some person in some rural area of the mid or midwestern states that had a level of success in those area are adopted here and mandated to us to use. Some dude making wayyy over a six figure salary,writes a book or make a presentation to other six figures salaried administrators here and then it is passed down to us as it was gold on some proven method that is revolutionary and guarantees great success to a different culture of students in urban areas or the inner cities. One size doesnt fit all. We are suppose to buy into it and put on a happy and interested face with a guilt trip that we are doing it for the kids. I refuse follow every trend that comes up telling us we are teaching poorly and we need to try this new fresh approach to teaching.
