As the 50th anniversary of President Kennedys assassination draws - TopicsExpress

As the 50th anniversary of President Kennedys assassination draws ever closer, todays 5th and final story looks at African-Americans relationship to the martyred President, stating that many Black households hung pictures of Jesus Christ, Dr. King, and President Kennedy even if the latter might be a bit out of place (Ive read elsewhere that many homes hung pictures of Robert Kennedy as well, maybe reflecting a common theme of martyrdom). This adoration endured despite Kennedys weak leadership on civil rights the first two of his 3 calendar years in office. In any event, the article should be read in full. In looking at his weak leadership, the article notes that President Kennedy was indeed politically boxed in, given his razor thin 1960 election victory and the reality that White Southerners still hadnt yet defected from the Democratic Party. A bit more on that in my comment. abcnews.go/US/wireStory/jfk-holds-complex-place-black-history-20768639
