At 1600 hours Fairfield Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 1600 Block of Blossom Ave. Firefighters arrived to find a home and two cars well involved with fire. The fire was quickly upgraded to a 2nd alarm. The fire spread to nearby grass causing an approximate ¼ acre grass fire in both Fairfield and Suisun City’s. The home was a total loss damaged estimates were approximately $100,000.00 to property and contents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters from Suisun City FD and Vacaville City FD assisted with the grass fire. An elder care facility next door was evacuated by the home’s staff, the care home was not damaged in the blaze but a resident from the care home did suffer shortness of breath and was transported to the hospital. The Red Cross responded to assist the fire victims with housing for the night.
