Attention Winstead family: I have in my possession a piece of history that most people do not have and that you might want! Our Daddy had an 8 mm video camera since the late 1950s. Rhonda got all of the footage that we have put on DVD. I can make copies and mail to anyone that wants them for about $5 shipped. There is something like 2.5-3 hours of total footage. Let me tell you what is on it. There are 2 DVDs. On the first, it starts with Mom and Dads wedding. After the wedding, there is a bizarre scene of them making out on a sofa Try not to look. Uggghh! You will see Mama Winstead and Daddy Winstead along with Herman, Patsy Winstead Stone at about 14-15 years old (a dead ringer for Jill Stone Bunn), Beck, Horace, Sue Gardener and I think her husband. There is Mitch Winstead about 9-10 years but I am just guessing. Fleeting footage of Aunt Grace. Note that everyone had a vintage car. What a coincidence! A lot of the footage is Rhonda at about 2 years running around. Hey, it was her Dads camera so what do you expect? At Mama Winsteads house later, you will see Judy briefly and I believe a blonde who is most likely Wayne Winstead at about 3-5 years old on a slide and swingset. A slightly older Mitch is riding a pony in the yard (maybe 12-13 years old - Mitch, not the yard). There is a scene of, I believe, Bonnie and Melinda Winstead Johnson dancing in the yard...or is that Brenda Winstead Dalrymple? Patsy is riding in a car with a sign that says Miss Elm City like she won some pageant or something. Pat, I know I am a little late but congratulations! Tyler Stone, you should take her out to dinner or something. Finally towards the end of the first DVD, there is Rhondas 3rd birthday party. There is a scene with Bonnie tossing Rhonda around. There is a big Thanksgiving dinner and you will see Dot holding I believe a toddler Traci Winstead Behrendt. There are many familiar and some not so familiar (to me) faces at the dinner. You may note something unusual about this family gathering. No one is texting and glued to their smart phone. People are actually talking to each other. Derwood/Daddy does a pretty impressive magic trick. Mitch and Melinda are playing (about 12 -15 years old) in the yard and you will see a brief appearance of a 6-7 year old Bryan, son of Valmonte Winstead playing too. That video ends with Mama coming out of the hospital with yours truly wrapped in red blanket. A few more scenes of me as a baby and walking ends the first DVD. The second one has Pat and Glenn Stones wedding. Yes, that is me standing outside the church eating the rice I was given. Someone should have told me it was for throwing, not for snacking. I remember it well. You will see pretty much the whole family there too. Bonnies ex David is there. Herman looked the same then as he did in the 1980s. Valmont is around too. Most of this DVD is footage of me and Rhonda and Mama but there is some footage of us at family gatherings. One shows Wayne briefly at about 14 or so years and his Dad, Horace and Sheri Winstead Spain but I could not seem to spot Deanna Cage but she might have been around there somewhere. When you see Mitch, you will swear he was the lost member of The Monkees rock band. Cornell was there and the green GTO is there too. Monty (could not find Ben) is there at some gathering. So is a young Wendy at about 3 and Beck. An older Traci (10ish) too. Some of the footage is at our house with Ednas sisters and some is vacation. One vacation is with Valmont and Sylvia in the Mountains of Boone, NC and Monte and Ben are there (about 11 and 9). Some of the footage is me playing little league baseball. Some of that is so blurry, you cannot hardly make out anyone but I definitely see Brent Pope flexing his muscles before a game! I am sure there are people there I am forgetting or could not recognize. As for the footage, it is 8MM with background music so dont expect HD and some you will just want to fast forward through. Daddy moved the camera around way too fast much of the time so expect that. Most people born before 1980 cannot even dream of seeing video of themselves so this is very unique and rare. Let me know if you are interested and I will start making copies.
