August 13, 2013 Leave-taking of the Transfiguration & St. Maximos the Confessor To the Reverend Clergy, the Monastics, the Parish Councils, the Distinguished Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Day, Afternoon, and Church Schools, the Philoptochos Sisterhoods, the Youth, the Hellenic Organizations, and the entire Greek Orthodox Family Of the Holy God-Preserved Metropolis of Pittsburgh: It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of four regional vicars to assist in the administration of our Holy Metropolis. They will serve as my representatives in each region assisting me in various ways: by addressing the health and ongoing care of our clergy, by resolving disagreements or disputes that arise, and by representing me at functions and meetings. Rev. Fr. Alexander Goussetis is the proistamenos of the Annunciation Church in Lancaster, PA, where he has served for the past 9 years. He will be the vicar for the Eastern region, which stretches from Scranton to York, PA. Rev. Fr. Christopher Bender is nearing the completion of his first year as dean of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Pittsburgh to which he came after serving the community of Kimisis Tis Theotokou in Aliquippa, PA for 7 years. He is the vicar for the Central region, covering the Greater Pittsburgh area from Ambridge to Monessen and Canonsburg to Altoona, PA. Rev. Fr. Frank Milanese has completed 8 years of service to the community of All Saints in Weirton, WV after dutifully serving Mount Tabor Ministries and the Church of St. George in Huntington, WV. He will be the vicar for the Southwest region, which includes the parishes in Columbus, OH, along the Ohio River, and into West Virginia. Rev. Fr. Stephen Callos is the dean of Sts. Constantine & Helen Cathedral in Cleveland Heights where he has served for nearly 31 years following his time in Weirton, WV. He is the vicar of the Northwest region which includes Northeast OH and Northwest PA, stretching from Mansfield, OH up to Erie, PA, and from Lorain, OH over to New Castle, PA. These men have been selected in recognition of their spiritual maturity and because they are excellent examples of the Christian priesthood, and I pray that their ministries be fruitful and pleasing to the Lord. Please join me in proclaiming them: AXIOI! They are worthy! With Archpastoral blessings and love in the Lord, + SAVAS Metropolitan of Pittsburgh
