BBC News reports that more than 50,000 letters are being sent out by the Department for Work and Pensions to parents in England, Scotland and Wales who currently pay or receive child maintenance through the Child Support Agency. The letters notify them of changes to their child maintenance arrangements. Under the new arrangements if agreement cannot be reached by parents, a charge will be imposed on the non-resident parent of 20% on top of the weekly amount of child maintenance that the non-resident parent is liable to pay.
