BE READY FOR REBELLION AS A LEADER King David returned to - TopicsExpress

BE READY FOR REBELLION AS A LEADER King David returned to Jerusalem after a rebellious battle with his son Absalom and met another rebel Sheba. The bible says, And there happened to be there a rebel, whose name was Sheba.......he blew a trumpet and said, we have no share in David, nor do we have inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel! So every man of Israel deserted David and followed Sheba...... 2 Samuel 20:1-2, NJKV Bible. Sheba took advantage of Davids weakened position after Absaloms failed rebellion and the conflict between Judah and the other ten tribes as seen in 2 Samuel 19:40-43. He based his rebellion on three principles common to rebels, (1) Sheba denied the kings sovereignty, he claimed that David had no right to reign over him or the ten tribes of Israel. (2) Sheba devalued the kings identity, Jesse was a humble farmer and Sheba wanted to emphasize Davids humble beginning. (3) Sheba decided to go his own way and drew others with him, he acted on his low opinion of David. According to 2 Samuel 19:40-43, leaders from these same ten tribes argued with the tribe of Judah over who honoured king David more, but their response to Shebas rebellion shows that their desire to honour David had nothing to do with honouring him, but in exalting self. So JESUS is addressing the Body of Christ, HIS workers in the vine yard, leadership in the church that, so long as you are working for HIM JESUS, be ready for rebellion, your own very brethren will raise up against you, your family members will raise up against you, the church members will raise up against you, those you have place in position of leadership will raise up against you, etc. just as Sheba rose against David. But hold your peace for it is written, Everyone will hate you because of Me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved Mark 13:13 NIV Bible. Therefore repent from any act of rebellion and return to GOD, the MESSIAH is coming and we have to prepare the way for HIM in holiness and righteousness. However, the men of Judah remained loyal to their king, the desertion of the ten tribes was distressing but the loyalty of the men of Judah was wonderful. When others desert or divide it gives us a greater opportunity to demonstrate loyalty, we might say that it is in the nature of men to divide, but we should imitate the loyalty, the tribe of Judah showed to their king. This means we must be loyal to JESUS in spite of the mocking of the multitude, we must be loyal to JESUS in spite of the rebellion of the flesh, we must be loyal to JESUS in spite of the times when HE seems distant. Therefore, With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace Says the LORD, Eph.4:2-3 NKJV Bible.
