Warning!! The dangers of 1st cousin marriages, regardless of what is allowed in Islam is just too great a risk to your child and future generations. Culture and traditions are very important but the future health of so many could be placed at risk and lead the shortened life spans due to genetic defects. This is not just a problem in Islamic communities it occurs in many places and cultures with the same end result. My intention is not to judge, or insult, but it is a scientific and medical fact of genetics that can not be disputed. It is a roll of the dice and a gamble that is taken whenever first cousins marry and have children. The only hope is to widen the gene pool and avoid first cousin marriages altogether. Sorry if this offended anyone but it is a message that needs to be heard and perhaps even legislated and hopefully Islamic leadership will help lead the way and not get stuck in the Its allowed mind set. Allah gave us the brains to think and reason also and not to go on simply blind faith alone.
