Been kind of at odds with myself lately. Having some issues with our house that have been holding us up. The builder that did the concrete work has some problems with the floor chipping and hasnt finished the parging on the outside of the walls. He also did not install the cleanout door for the chimney, which has to be mortared in. He has told us twice that he would be out to fix it and has nwver showed. Umfortunately he has been paid the full amount because we gave him the last check on his last day here. We had to go to a sale and left him to it. Unfortunately all he did was install the chimney and leave. We have no contract stating the specifics of his job because we were hullible and thought that a LOCAL person would not be like that. Now we are stuck with a decision to be made. Do we go to the magistrate and file suit or do we call him and give him an ultimatum? At this point I just really want done with our home so we can be moved in but in the same breath, we have waited almost 14 years for this and I dont want to let him off the hook! Anyone have any experience with an issue like this? Or ideas that dont involve going to his house?! We have another contractor coming tomorrow with an estimate on what it would take to finish and correct the job he left.
