Being stuck at home with sick kids has its perks... yesterday I - TopicsExpress

Being stuck at home with sick kids has its perks... yesterday I colored, watched The Lone Ranger, Justice League AND He-Man, ate cupcakes, stayed in my pajamas and every time I went to the bathroom I was congratulated and told I had done a good job. I watched the Pyramid Code, and dropped little animals into glasses of water in hopes they would become big animals... I dont remember it taking so long. All this after I played a show at Crooked Tree Coffee from 9am until 11am, like I do every Thursday Morning with my guitar and happy little ukulele. I also started Physical Therapy this week. Things are going well if youre wondering, its actually kinda neat. Hung like a bat and stuck electrodes to my back and they provide the gym shorts? Sweet. Maybe not as cool as the healing properties of the Pyramids being tuned to a musical note or the way they would glow at night when the Nile flooded... but, still a diversion from the monotony. I learned something pretty funny the other day, I think it was last week or the week before. I didnt start playing guitar until I was 26 because I never really thought it was possible to keep the needed calluses on my fingertips to play. Then I decided I would play even if my fingers bleed and it killed me. Now I can play for 6 hours straight(roughly).... but there is still pain. Lots of it. Who cares? Tone is whats important. I play acoustic steel string because I like the sound...? I never even consider doing solos, intros or outros because my fingers hurt so much, I have to concentrate on holding a clear chord by pushing down on the strings hard enough to avoid the ugly buzzing noise associated with new or beginning players. And I have been doing this for like 8 years now... Found some stuff at Music Villa in Bozeman called Rock-tip(non-toxic) that you put on the tips of your fingers to protect them like Flea, and others did with superglue(which is toxic). Bingo. No pain. I have been playing music as my main/mostly only job for over 3 years. I play 3 to 9 shows a week and my fingers HURT... but I just assumed everyone had this problem. They dont. Im an idiot. Now I am practicing a lot more. I use nylon string and even bought my first electric guitar amp with tubes. The time for do or die is over. I didnt die. That is not enough. Cheers
