Benton AR: Popeye is a sweet American Bulldog mix that we rescued 3 months ago. He was living on a chain in miserable conditions. We got him to the Vet immediately and found out he has a severe case of heart worms. A family in Arkansas stepped up to adopt him and after passing our rigorous background check and home visit, he went home with them. He was supposed to start his heart worm treatment about 2 weeks ago, but instead he was returned to our rescue because the family was not willing to walk, exercise, or train him. like they agreed to do. Instead he was living in a crate day & night! We got him back immediately and he is now living in boarding, after having a family for 3 months. He has was born with a defect which is that he has one eye that is much smaller that the other one. It looks like he doesnt have an eye. But it has not affected his eyesight. He is a happy and energetic boy that needs to be with an active family or at least have a yard where he can play fetch and be walked on a regular basis, not crated and left on a tie out 24/7! He is neutered and utd on all his shots. We will be starting his heart worm treatment immediately after he finishes his training. He didnt know commands because he lived his life on a chain with no human interaction. The boarding facility says that he is the sweetest dog eve. He also had a very successful first day of training.
