Bgrade Match Report Round 3 vs Bluff Point CVNCC 182 def Bluff Point 116 After last weeks great win over Towns we were excited to try and keep the victorys coming in our first home game of the year out at the valley. Winning my second toss in as many weeks, I once again elected to bowl first with confidence in my strong opening partnership of Rob Kingdon and Mitch Lane. A pearler of a first ball from mitch removed one of Bluff Points openers and their number 3 followed a few overs later. Rob and mitch continued to bowl well but the wickets just didnt seem to come with two of bluffs better batsmen hunkering down. Cue Luke Austin, coming on from the southern end and getting the breakthrough we needed rattling the stumps. Alex continued his great form claiming the wicket of the remaining opener and also top scorer. Luke and Alex both struck again before drinks leaving Bluff Point on 5-96 at the break. Returning from drinks alex once again claimed a wicket before I brought our openers on again to try and clean up the tail. And thats just what they did with Rob finally getting the wicket he deserved and Mitch taking another 2 to give him figures of 4-30 off 6.5 overs. After some quick afternoon tea Trent and I went headed out to open and hopefully replicate our previous weeks opening stand. Unfortunately this wasnt to be with trent our top run scorer from the previous week falling for a golden duck, bowled by a beauty from Bluff Point captain Tim Clune. After a brief partnership between myself and first gamer Arran Jodah, I followed in Trents wake bowled by Matty Reid. This brought the big man himself Kayne Cragan to the crease for the first time this year and didnt he deliver. In partnership with Arran he got us within striking distance of our target. Unfortunately Arran fell with Jamie Williams not far behind, but things took a quick turn around when John Norgett came to the crease and in partnership with Kayne lifted the run rate again. On the back of this partnership we coasted to victory with Kayne making 42 and John 39 along with a nice lower order 22* from Alex. I dont think the boys would forgive me or I wouldnt forgive myself if I didnt mention the unfortunate dismissal of my vice captain Troy Hutchinson to A GIRL!!! Haha and bowled too Id like to add ;) sorry troy. A special thanks gos to the old Valley stalwarts Friday, Atrill and the rest for coming along and giving their..... alternative words of encouragement ;) poor Strawny seemed to be on the receiving end of most of it haha Another great win.
