Big day tomorrow - leaving for Edinburgh first thing - 12 hours on - TopicsExpress

Big day tomorrow - leaving for Edinburgh first thing - 12 hours on Lufthansa, but at least I miss hideous Heathrow - change in Frankfurt and Edinburgh direct. It was another epic day for me today in Tokyo. 34 degrees again, and I forgot that you can get sunburned in cities - ouch. No hat, no sunscreen, no nothing... doh. My morning mission was a slightly bizarre little town called Shibamata (the only way I could remember it was the queen of Sheba goes to Waitemata) which was completely made over in the late 60s to look like 1920s Tokyo to be the set of Japans longest running TV series (26 years), called Men have it tough, you know (wtf) - and theyve left the main street the way it was - so its kind of a bit odd - because behind the authentic looking facade you can clearly see much more modern buildings holding them up. (pic number 3 is me with a statue of the star of the show). Anyway, it was a hoot and I loved it, and I had the best lunch ever (piping hot tempura with the most amazing clear miso soup and pickles - and green tea) and took a ton of selfies. Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park (park of a hundred museums!) in the afternoon with astonishing pieces from Japan and the rest of Asia from the last few thousand years - beautifully displayed, and unusually (according to my brother) with English descriptions on almost all of them. Im knackered and again, on the balcony with an enormous アサヒビール.
