Bilstein Modified Lite STARS Teams with Hoosier Race Tires for 2013 Somerset, PA (December 20, 2012): Bilstein Modified Lite STARS Tour is pleases to announce the teaming arrangement with Hoosier Racing Tire making Hoosier the official tire for the 2013-2015 season. Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. has been producing winning race tires for over 40 years. Hoosier produces over 1000 different size and compound combinations used at over 400 race tracks across the world. If you were at the Indianapolis IMIS convention you would have seen Bruce Mason, President of the Modified Lite STARS and Bill Bauer, President of Racing Operations hard at work. Both were able to meet with Hoosier Racing Tire, Product Manager Shanon Rush and put closure to Request for Proposals (RFP) which was sent out to the tire manufactures at the start of the 2012 season. Bauer stated during the meeting with Hoosier Tire “The Modified Lite STARS program is unique to other sanctioning bodies, we are a non-profit organization and we prefer to have a tire program that is affordable and not a support tire program”. Within the modified lite division, the current sanctioning plated tire cost the driver more than $125.00 each, a portion of that is turned over to the sanctioning series making that tire a support tire program. I don’t like the idea that the drivers have to pay the extra fee on top of the original cost of the tire. We are looking for an affordable and durable tire which Hoosier Racing Tire has given us. During the 2012 season Hoosier provided us with a set of test tires similar to the Hoosier Dirt Bozz Style tread pattern “H”, and the Hoosier Racing Tire sanctioning body plated tire with 40-durometer reading. We put a lot of laps on the tire which has a softer side wall giving the driver more stability in the turn. Overall the tire outperformed the current tire and made our decision to select the Hoosier test tire as our primary tire. Bruce Mason stated “We’re thrilled to extend our ongoing relationship with Hoosier Racing and look forward to our three year partnership.” Starting in 2013 the Bilstein Modified Lite STARS is proud to announce the Hoosier tire program: Hoosier Racing Tire will provide a STARS plated tire 205/60-13, 215/60-13 soft and 215/60-13 medium tire, 235/60-13 TBD $100 retail cost to the driver, a saving of $25 for each tire Hoosier will provide the Modified Lite STARS Tour with four tires for each of the five national events, up to 20 tires total Hoosier will have a two month spool up period. Estimated date of release for the STARS plated tire is March 1, 2013. Modified Lite STARS Tour rules to read: The official tire for the Modified Lite STARS Tour is the Hoosier STARS plated 205/60-13, 215/60-13 soft and 215/60-13 medium tire, other tires to be considered by events. Note: Hoosier Dirt Bozz Style tread pattern “H”, Hoosier Racing Tires sanctioning body plated tires and American Racer CC 40-durometer minimum before the race will remain in effect for a burn off period identified by the Modified Lite STARS Tour. The Bilstein Modified Lite STARS Championship Series is entering its seventh year of operations. The non-profit organization gives modified lites community in the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for enhanced purse and an annual point fund. The Bilstein Modified Lite STARS International Championship Tour represents an aggressively growing segment of motor sports’ racing and is recognized as the leader in modified lite racing. 36805STARS 205/60-13 STARS SOFT $100.00 36810STARM 215/60-13 STARS MED $100.00 36910STARS 215/60-13 STARS SOFT $100.00
