Both saddened and angry last night after the council meeting. I - TopicsExpress

Both saddened and angry last night after the council meeting. I have complained about the antics of the Labour councillors befopre on this site, but even this lot reached new depths last night. UKIP councillor Matt Stinson proposed a motion to return from the cabinet model of governance to a committee system. It was positioned that this model would give more councilors a say in the decision making process, as the Cabinet consists of only 8 Labour councillors. As soon as Stinson spoke to propose the motion and Stockton seconded the first of the knives came out. Conservative leader Philip Jackson opined that as these UKIP councillors had only been in office for a short while they had no right to make any suggestions. What I expected to see was a series of arguments both for and against the motion culminating in a vote on the motion. What we actually got was a series of personal attacks and vile comments from a number of Labour councillors. Very fewe actually kept to the point and just unloaded a series of insults. This has long been Labours style as anyone who has spoken against them will tell you. Chief aong these was the disgraceful Matthew Brown, Matthew Patrick, Peter Wheatley and Matthew Barrow. Leader Chris Shaw & deputy Mick Burnett, while enjoying a jibe at the party that decimated them at the last elections at least kept to the point. None of the others did. Wheatley waffling on about 1605, while Brown as pompous as ever called the three oppositon parties Useless, Hopeless and Clueless. Andrew De Frietas rose and although opposed to the motion he expressed his disgust with some of the comments made. In the chamber we have a mayor (Alex Baxter) whos job is to keep the debate on track and last night he was derelict in his duty, allowing any comment however irrelevant and disgraceful. He gave the three retards complete largesse to abuse heckle and insult. All in all it was a hatchet job pure and simple. A rude awakening for the UKIP group, who will no doubt learn from this. If anything was proven last night it was how little Labour and the Tories actually give a shit about the community or the borough they were elected to represent. As long as their nest is feathered..... I appreciate that some of them may take unmbrage at me calling them out, but they chose the venacular not me.
