Box Trolls Double Craft Activity: What you will need: Boxes - TopicsExpress

Box Trolls Double Craft Activity: What you will need: Boxes Some glue or sticky tape Toilet rolls, plastic cups, string, marker pens, googly eyes… or any combination of things you have lying around the house that can make something that, to a child, vaguely resembles a box troll If you are working with multiple young children, you will need: An extra portion of patience Added coolness to your temper Some serious self-control Quick access to Panadol, coffee and a block of chocolate (for recovery) Instructions: Option 1: Make a whole box troll Using the box as your base, glue or stick stuff to it to look like a head, legs and arms or use a marker to draw them on. Option 2: Use the box to make your child into a box troll Take the box, attach some string to make arm holes so your child can put the box on and wear it like a box troll Variations to the above instructions: In between cutting things, chase one child through the house who has run away with the scissors. While working with one child, break up a fight over a box between two other children. Repeat instructions 5 times per child before each step. Mentally drift away to a place where there is no self-inflicted, craft-created mess: a place where mums are wiser than to start an activity that will be quickly regretted when being done with children who are too tired to fully participate, but not so tired that they don’t have the energy to cause mass destruction. You will be rewarded at the end of this activity with a full six-and-a-half minutes of peace while the children enjoy their new creations. That’s just enough time to boil the kettle, make a cuppa and skull it before the next onslaught of “Muuu-uum!” begins.
