Brothers and Sisters, Thanks for everyone who was able to join us for the Labor Day Parade in Gaithersburg. We followed our good friend Senator Ben Cardin. Yea it was hot and so were the bikes but, we made it and had a good lunch afterwards. Paul Henriques sent some pictures see attachments above. If anyone else has some pictures to share, send them to me, I’ll pass them on. I received an email about one of our IBEW member who is in a situation none of us would ever want to be in. the email follows explaining the circumstances. Three children of Local 26 member, Richard Curl, Jr., Chesapeake Beach, were injured, one fatally, in an automobile accident August 7th. Courtney Curl, 17 years old, died at the scene. Her two sisters, Peyton, 10 years old and Brittany, 20 years old, were both flown to area hospitals for emergency medical treatment. Peyton is recovering after surgery. Brittany’s recovery remains in question. A collection from the employees at EWTF has been made to the “Team Curl Fund”, The Local 26 Motorcycle Club and the staff at the hall is in the process of collecting donations. If you are moved to help the Curl Family, please forward any amount to Linda Lawrence, Finance office. A collective donation will be made to the “Team Curl Fund”. Cash and checks (Team Curl Fund) are appreciated. The family will be informed by the bank that is handling this account that the donation was from IBEW Local 26 staff and friends. Thank you, Linda Lawrence 301-918-8832 I am polling everyone in our club asking that any personal donations be forwarded to Linda Lawrence here at the local, and that our Club donate $100 to the “Team Curl Fund” If you support this proposal please let me know. On a lighter note, we had planned a trip to Naturel Bridge in Virginia on September 20 - 22. I have not heard from anyone as to their intentions about participating. Therefore we are going to re-schedule the trip for the weekends of either, October 4 -6th or, October 18 -20th. Please let me know if you are interested and which date is better for you. I am also polling the members for a donation of $100 for “Pediatric Braun Tumor Foundation” They have a ride planned for Sunday, September 22nd. Registration, $40 in advance $50 at the door, begins at 7:30 am and closes at 9:00 am. Kickstands up at 9:30 sharp, rain or shine. The ride starts at the Howard County Fairgrounds, located about 1 mile west of the intersection of Routes 32 and 144. That’s about a ½ mile south of I-70. This is a scenic escorted ride, should be fun. Let me know who wants to go. Those coming from the south can meet at or near my house in Laurel. Again, walk – up registration is $50, you can save $10 by registering on line at rideforkids.org. Let me know! Our next regularly scheduled Club meeting is September 21stat 10:00 am in Manassas. Please make every effort to attend, we have not had a meeting in Manassas since the Poker Run and it is only fair to our brothers and sisters in Virginia that we show up. Jerry
