C/O Julie Wassmer THE BBC has responded to my complaint about Peter Allens comment of my friend and fellow campaigner, Gayzer Frackman, as follows:Dear Mrs wassmer Thanks for contacting us regarding ‘5 Live Drive’ on 4 June. We understand you were concerned to hear presenter Peter Allen refer to Gayzer Frackman as a loony and note that you considered this offensive. Peter Allen was having a private conversation which wasnt intended for broadcast. He quickly made a full on-air apology and made clear his comments were not intended to cause offence. With regards to the issue of fracking, in recent years BBC Radio 5 Live has covered the issues raised by fracking in an open and balanced way, allowing all sides of the debate to be heard, and please know the station is committed to continuing this in the future. Nevertheless, thank you again for getting in touch; we value your feedback about ‘5 Live Drive’. All complaints are sent to senior management and programme makers every morning and we included your points in our overnight reports. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensure that your complaint has been seen quickly and by the right people.
