Although code enforcement is not specifically on the agenda, our councilpersons are hearing our drum beats regarding lax code enforcement in Historic Districts. Continual public input is needed to encourage the issue be studied, and funds allocated, in a public budget committee meeting. Please contact your councilperson today or first thing Tuesday morning with this message: 1) Please consider assignment of code enforcement or emergency access to city staff on weekends, when most non-permitted, and often irreparable, offenses take place. Access to city staff on weekends and after-hours is vital to thwarting code offenders. 2) We ask for meaningful penalties for those who degrade our neighborhoods.
