Storyline This is the story of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland in the St. Lawrence River in May 1914 and the subsequent government inquiry. It is the story of the captain of a transatlantic passenger liner who ran his ship into a Norwegian collier in a fog killing over a thousand people. It is the story of a woman who survived the disaster losing her husband and son whose body she has to fight to recover. And finally, it presents the moral dilemma of being true to oneself and at the same time loyal to the company, during a Commission of Inquiry opposing a multinational in the transport industry and a tiny Norwegian coal-hauling firm.
