CETI Acronym generically indicating research programs of extraterrestrial life through radio signals or other appropriate means. Literally means: "Communication with Extra Terrestrial Intellingence" (Communication with Extraterrestrial Intelligence). Some scholars who are engaged in this research considered as too concrete stands and prefer to adopt a similar one: SETI or "Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (research for extraterrestrial intelligence), which includes, or at least not manifestly declares, the ambition of a dialogue with the aliens and just talk generically research. CETI programs are based on these rules: life is a phenomenon of cosmic scope, which has been developed in other Earth-like planets belonging to distant solar systems, and, therefore, may be a percentage of such planets on which life has evolved to the stage of a technological civilization. Given this premise for granted, it was considered appropriate to hearken, using radio telescopes to try to capture any radio signals from extraterrestrial civilizations yearning to come into contact with such beings.
