You know its not going to be a good appointment when you take your son to the doctor and say, Hes having symptoms and a rash on his back that could potentially be signs of Bartonella and the doctor pauses for a long time and finally replies, Ummm, and exactly what IS Bartonella? Bartonella is a lyme co-infection. I dont expect that to be common knowledge outside the medical profession, but its way past time for doctors to know about the potential co-infections that are passed along from ticks. These co-infections cause as many problems as lyme itself and go undiagnosed for even longer because doctors dont test for them. This doctor was at least kind and apologetic about not being familiar with it, which is more courteous than other doctors Ive dealt with. So frustrating though.
