CROSS-COUNTRY: Local sports blogger Claude Scilley has the report on Kingstons first national club cross-country championship, won Saturday by the Physi-Kult junior womens team. • A 13th-place performance by Clara Langley led the Physi-Kult team of Kingston to the junior women’s team title Saturday at the Canadian cross-country championships in Vancouver. It is the first title won at a national cross-country meet by a team from Kingston. Langley, 19, completed the 5-km Jericho Beach course in 18 minutes 42.44 seconds. She was followed by the Top 20 performances of teammates Branna McDougall, 15, who was 16th (18:46.78), and Heather Jaros, 16, who was 19th (18:55.05). Brianna Bradley, 18, was Physi-Kult’s other scoring runner, finishing 65th in 20:13.46. Nicole Armstrong, 17, also competed, placing 74th in the 117-woman field in 20:27.52. Physi-Kult finished atop the team standings with 38 points, 21 better than runners-up Mac Track of Alberta. Heather Petrick of Niagara Olympic won the race in 17 minutes 47.63 seconds, with a 15-second margin of victory over Jillian Forsey of Stephenville, N.L.
