CW: Mental health, suicide The death of Charlotte Bevan is an absolute tragedy and with her daughter still missing, presumed dead it is more so. Its 2014 and although treatment and care for mental health issues has come on leaps and bounds from my Grans time, when she was sectioned and subjected to electro-convulsive therapy for depression, were still nowhere near what treatment should be. Our system lets down people with mental illness at the most basic level and that is a grave sin. Having experienced postnatal depression myself, I feel even more drawn to this story and so very sorry for Charlotte Bevans family and loved ones. Her experience was Britains shame.
