Can we keep it? As many squirrels as there are in the Twin Cities, there are the same amount of stray animals here in Istanbul. Ive encountered so many friendly cats and dogs in this city, and THAT is an understatement. Theyre extremely friendly, compassionate, affectionate, and absolutely adore company, even the cats!! We met this cutie pie after we attended the Spice Bazaar in Eminönü. The dog was sitting on the curb and rested his front paws on the lower level cobblestone. As we walked towards him, I made kissing noises and he immediately looked and walked up to me. He even followed us across the streets to the platform where we were getting on the Tram (lightrail) to go back to our apartment (which was a super dangerous thing to do because cars, not to say the Trams, WILL not stop for anything!) We also met these kitty cats while on our Amazing Race adventure around Istanbul and decided to stop and greet them. These babies were so loving and came right up to us for some belly rubs and head scratches. They dont follow you like the dogs and tend to stay put, but are way more affectionate than the cats in the states. They love humans and are super eager for attention. These pictures do these loving animals absolutely no justice... Wish I could pack them into my suitcase and bring them home.
