Car Parking Hallam Fields Since being elected two weeks ago, I have been in contact with a number of residents in Hallam Fields about car parking. Most residents will agree there are too many cars and not enough spaces. Residents have complained about cars obstructing drive ways and parking double yellow lines. I have been in contact with Pc 1759 David Jaeckele Birstall Beacon Officer. To see what we can do to address the parking issue. Pc Jaeckele advised he has spent many hours delivering leaflets to home in Hallam Fields asking them to park more considerately. Since car parking has been decriminalised, police can only issue tickets for obstruction and parking on double yellow lines. However if vehicles are causing a blatant obstruction then police do have the power to remove the cars. But there is a difference in blatant obstruction and leaving cars in a safe area or parking on double yellow lines.
