Catalan newspaper Sport have pieced together why there has been a hold up in Cesc Fabregas’ move from Barcelona to Chelsea. Yesterday there were rumours that Manchester United were hoping to pip Chelsea to Fabregas, but these were dismissed, leaving the Blues as the most likely destination for the Spanish playmaker. According to Sport, Arsenal are entitled to 50% of the profit on any transfer made by Cesc Fabregas for a fee over 33 million euros. This profit clause has not ever been reported as fact but comes into play as Arsenal are not interested in re-signing Cesc. A price of 33 million euros was the one famously suggested by Gerard Pique to Vicente Del Bosque at a Spain press conference last week. But, Barcelona deny any move has been done and are looking for more than 33 million euros for Fabregas. However, Chelsea are so far refusing to pay more than that figure as they do not want to be paying any money to Arsenal. If Fabregas were to move from Barcelona to Chelsea for 36 million euros, Arsenal would be due 1.5 million euros and Roman Abramovich does not want to pay such a fee to a Premier League rival. Chelsea and Arsenal do not have the best relationship in the transfer market – Jose Mourinho refused to loan the Gunners Demba Ba last summer. Sport add that Arsene Wenger is not willing to renege on this profit clause despite the fact he knows Fabregas is unhappy at Barcelona and the pair are still friends. Finally, the Catalan paper adds that the Cesc Fabregas transfer is unlikely to take place before the end of the World Cup but his agent Darren Dein s free to negotiate the players’ future. #Mickey
