Challenge for my friends who advocate limited government: is there - TopicsExpress

Challenge for my friends who advocate limited government: is there any law that should *not* have a sunset provision for *every* legislative session? Should one Congress be able to bind a future one with any law, even if the future Congress could take action to repeal the law? And if the answer is no, would such "term limits" for laws be a better solution that term limits for politicians (I acknowledge that the two are not mutually exclusive). My own thought is that there might be some laws that might be very negatively impacted by this (such as protection of IP rights, e.g. copyrights and patents), I think universal sunsets for all laws - perhaps some short timeframe such as 30 days after the swearing in of the next Congress - would be a very beneficial change. Thoughts or criticisms?
