Channels TV CEO Wins LBS Alumni Award The Lagos Business School of the Pan Atlantic University at the weekend held its presidents awards in Lagos, Nigeria. The award which was in three categories had the Chairman/CEO of Channels TV; Mr John Momoh go home with the most coveted distinguished alumni award for his contribution to society by promoting ethical and professional values. While giving his speech, Mr. John Momoh attributed his commitment, enduring happiness and fulfilment to the peace of the Lord, work and relationship. “As the saying goes, real commitment, enduring happiness and fulfilment come from the gratification of things Two things in particular, our work and our relationships but permit to add one more things and which in fact should come first and that is that if you have the peace of the Lord which surpasses all understanding, you have everything” Before founding Channels Television, John worked variously as Senior Reporter, News Anchor, News Editor and News Producer for Nigeria’s National Radio and Television Stations, Radio Nigeria and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He has won many laurels – including “News Anchor of the Year”, of the maiden edition of the prestigious Nigerian Media Merit Award (NMMA) and Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) “Newscaster of The Year”, all which attest to his venerated professional status. John Momoh is a graduate of the University of Lagos with a Masters degree in International Law and Diplomacy and a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Mass Communication. He is both a “Chevening” fellow and a fellow of the “African Future Leaders” Initiative of the Commonwealth Office of the British Government. John also holds Diplomas from the Thomson Foundation, Cardiff, U.K. and the Manchester Business School also in the U.K. He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School (CEP-7), a former General Secretary of the Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (IBAN), former Honorary Secretary of Ikoyi Club 1938, Nigeria’s premier social club, Protem Chairman of the League of Nigerian Broadcasters (LNB) and member, Lagos Motor Boat Club. John is a recipient of the National Honour of “Officer of Order of the Niger” (OON). He is also a fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Chairman of Polls and Ratings, a marketing research company and Patron of many organizations including Communicating for Change (CFC) and Digital Peers International (DPI). Recently, John Momoh was conferred with a Lifetime Achievement Award (Broadcast Sector) by the Nigerian Information Society. John Momoh is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) based in New York, U.S.A. His television station is the first Nigerian broadcaster to be nominated for the iEmmy (International Emmy) under Unicef’s Entry for the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting. Channels Television of which he is Chairman/CEO is ‘seven time’ winner of the “Television Station of the Year” Award (2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2012) endowed by The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission.
