Christiana Thorpe Speaks on Third Term Agenda The National Electoral Commissioner in Sierra Leone has for the first time on air made her opinion public about the much talked 3rd Term agenda. Dr. Thorpe said she would not encourage President Dr. Ernest Koroma to follow the path of 3rd term agenda because of the fragility of our democracy. She put forward that President Koroma does not habour such intention, but she however added that those who are calling for the third term of the president are the people who want to continue to survive under the leadership of President Koroma. “The call for third term is uncalled for and it is unconstitutional “says the Chief Electoral Commissioner. Madam Thorpe made this comments when she was talking to radio democracy 98.1FM ‘Good Morning Sierra Leone’ program this morning about a book she will launch tomorrow that catalogue her life. She disclosed that her tenure as a Chief Electoral of Sierra Leone will end in the next three months. The Iron Lady boldly maintained that she has served the commission for well over 10 years and she is not interested to continue serving in that capacity. I have made lots of enemies and created lots of friends both home and abroad” Dr. Thorpe said. She added that the most exciting thing she has done for NEC is to re-brand the commission during her tenure and that some countries in Africa have been consulting her service and that of NEC staff to train and advise them on electoral matters
