Churches United is part of FaithCommunitiesalive! The overall goal of FaithCommunitiesalive! (FCA) is to engage the Fargo-Moorhead/Cass-Clay Community in collaborative training and education, and to provide tools and support to faith communities addressing healthful eating and physical activity to promote overall well-being. FCA is a partnership of NDSU Extension Service, Cass County Extension Service and community partners, with funding from Dakota Medical Foundation. Our goal at Churches United is to have the kitchen serve more nutritious meals for the homeless community. Some of the activities we would like to implement or have implemented include: • Offering fruits and vegetables with meals. • Incorporating more whole grains and brown rice. • Reducing or eliminating products with additives or preservatives. • Offering substitutions to accommodate people with diverse health issues. • Initiating a fitness program for employees and residents. • Making improvements to the kids play area. • Starting a smoking cessation program for residents. FCA has provided us with gym mats, a blender and a four-piece garden digging set. Let the FCA volunteers know if you have any ideas for the program or want to be part of it!
