Code 7 Connection Newsletter - August 2014 In the month of July, Code 7 served 11 squad meals in celebration of Code 7 Month, and theres still one to go! After all the meals were delivered to the patrol squads in the Chula Vista and National City Police Departments the past three weeks, my truck smelled like a mobile catering service. The payoff was seeing all the happy faces and hearing the words of gratitude through the muffled food-filled mouths. The simple act of providing meals and reminding the officers that the community, churches, and individual families value them was a great encouragement to them. A special thanks goes to EastLake Church for their sponsorship, which covered the cost of the grand Code 7 Month idea. Code 7 was formed to support law enforcement from the beginning to the end of their career. Chula Vista and National City Police Departments honored a few officers by celebrating their retirement. The celebration included a final salute and farewell walkouts to CV Agent G. Isaaks (37 years), CV Officer O. Demery (20 years), and NC Sgt. J Villagomez (24 years). The officers were congratulated by their peers as they walked from the station with applause and honor. Code 7 offered congratulations and gave a small gift as a token of our appreciation for their service. We celebrated the beginning and ending of the careers and are very grateful for the many years of service the men completed. Another exciting part of this past month was the opportunity Code 7 had to provide training space. I was approached by a CVPD K-9 officer and asked if our church building was available for the 10 handlers and their dogs in our area so they could use it for training. With excitement I said, Yes! I enjoyed spending a few hours talking with the officers and meeting a few dogs. A couple of the dogs were so anxious and excited to play, find the crook and bite, that I kept my distance. Looking forward - My September and October schedules are filling up with training and conferences. Please continue to pray for me as I work to develop new skills and refresh those I already have, so I can be more beneficial at serving law enforcement through Code 7. On a personal note, I want to say thank you to all those that heard about my daughter’s car accident and sent messages of encouragement and support. Other than a little bruising, she is fine and we are all very grateful. Thank you for partnering with Code 7 in support of law enforcement. We are able to fulfill our mission of providing support, encouragement, and activities because of your financial and prayerful support. I had great conversations, built relationships, and shared my journey of faith. I am convinced lives are being changed by our efforts. Thank you for helping keep me available to the officers. Blessings, Wes Anderson Founder/Chaplain Code 7
