Colorblindness; The Un-Common Core owl.li/zBzji Colorblindness! This is the Common Core that we never address. We speak about testing, and touch on arresting. Intellectually, we understand that schools are now a “pipeline to prison.” Still, we want discipline at least within the curriculum…or we once did. Now we Opt-Out. We opt-in and never admit to the din. In America we are consistent. We are Colormute and that is what does our children in. Common Core, whether you are for or against it, is like a religion. Perhaps were we not so busy working to implement or reject the standards, “designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared” we could speak to our tradition. We “offer black children a less rigorous curriculum.” We deny them the classes required for a college admission. And oh, how we discipline! “Black students are the most likely to have the lowest paid teachers with the fewest years of classroom experience.” Let’s look at what is. There is an Un-Common Core that Common Core Does Not Address… When the Status Quo is Not Good Enough Show Me the Numbers: Challenging current academic standards can ensure black achievement in schools.
