Congratulations!!!!!! Dear Ethan, Alexis, Pierce and Tiffany, Im pleased to inform you that you have been accepted as candidates for Epicenter’s University Innovation Fellows program! You are now part of a league of student change-makers who are leading a movement on their campuses. Together, we aim to expose all students - from engineering to the arts, business to the sciences and all peers in between - to innovation and entrepreneurship learning opportunities. Our hope is to achieve a tipping point when masses of young graduates have a leading role in the prosperity of our nation. Were extremely excited for you to meet the other candidates and current Fellows! Attached is a welcome message from the Epicenter family, as well as some background information and helpful links. Following is your top secret welcome video: Welcome: https://vimeo/113408365 (password: secretagent) Important Next Steps: Communications. The six weeks of online training will be held from January 5th to February 14th, 2015. Upon successful completion, you will be named an official University Innovation Fellow! At that time, Epicenter will issue a press release to your schools and mail a pinning ceremony kit to your sponsor. Naturally, you’ll be interacting with many faculty and students as part of your work mapping the entrepreneurial ecosystem of your school. You are encouraged to mention your candidacy in Epicenter’s University Innovation Fellow program. We just ask that you hold off on contacting the press or your school’s communication office until we give you the green light. Mandatory Orientation and Assignment. Orientation will take place on Monday January 5th, 2015 from 2-5pm EST. To prepare for your training, we ask that you complete an assignment which will aid in your orientation. The assignment will be available in the online learning platform, NovoEd on Friday, December 12th at 5pm EST (access details below) and is due on Saturday, January 3rd at midnight EST. Article: For those eager to get started, the assignment requires you to read the four pages that comprise Chapter 2: What is the Purpose of Higher Education from the e-book Making Space for Creativity. It’s an easy read (more of an article, than a chapter) that offers a high-level view of the tensions at play within academia and the ‘real world’ vis-a-vis giving all students the tools to be creative, innovative and entrepreneurial. FYI, we will be inviting your faculty sponsors to join us for orientation. NovoEd Online Learning Platform. Look for an email to your gmail address from Epicenter UIF Training with the subject header ‘[UIF] Welcome to Epicenter UIF Training on NovoEd - Spring 2015!’. You will receive the invitation later this week. As a candidate, you will have numerous responsibilities during your training. Your faculty advisors and our team will support you as you tackle the bold mission of enhancing the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of your school. We expect that you will manage and maintain a close link with us and your faculty/institutional sponsor(s). If you have any questions, contact [email protected]. Once again, congratulations and welcome to the movement! Best, Humera, Leticia, Katie, Laurie & the Epicenter family P.S.: https://vimeo/113408515 (password: secretagent)
