Congratulations are in order to one of our oldest friends, Bayvick Lal - Creative Designer for Bayvick Designs. Always a hard working chap, self motivated and has a heart full of love, Bayvick premiered his Spring/Summer Collection in Sydney yesterday. Being very busy with the preperations for his launch, Bayvick managed to spare a few minutes to answer a few of our questions. Fashion Throne Fiji: So Bayvick, what inspired your collection? Bayvick: The prints that you can see on my collection are mainly tribal, fused with tropical colors blended with my signature feature for this season which is the bird of paradise flower. I chose to feature this flower because it reminds me of my early childhood with my grandmother who had a passion in gardening and I always loved the bird of paradise flower while growing up in Fiji. There is something about it. It always appeals to me as an elegant and poised flower like a gay peacock. Our print is a very original artwork and was printed Sydney . Fashion Throne Fiji: Please explain to us your collection and whatbis its market? Bayvick: My new range is very contemporary, modern, elegant, chique and casual at the same time and modern edgy, chique, elegant pieces that can be worn for corporate, church, casual, romantic dinner dates on hot summer nights and uber chique urban clubbing and nightlife depending on the mood or occasion you choose to wear it too. My target audience are mainly youths , teens and grown ups who love their urban, classy and conservative style yet dynamic and daring to be different with their indigenous identity . A modern Kaiviti beauty will mostly find this collection appealing and relatable and will definetly get a sense of ownership with these prints, style and patterns. Fashion Throne Fiji: What are your objectives and what do you hope to achieve? Bayvick: Above all, I am planning to take our Island Identity into a greater scale and into the International fashion arena with this new turn Im headed.
