Countdown to Christmas! Day 1. Read Malachi 3:1-6. So I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple, the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come, says the Lord Almighty (Malachi 3:1). We all have so much to do this holiday season...the list goes on and on. The busyness of the season often leaves us so frayed by Christmas day that we are unable to completely enjoy it. Scripture tells us that a messenger was coming to prepare the way for the Messiah. John the Baptist had that mission. It was he who pleaded with the people to prepare their hearts for Jesus. John wasnt cooking, cleaning, buying gifts for others, or attending holiday functions. He was concerned about the preparation of HEARTS to accept the promised King. Preparing our hearts for Jesus is the single most important item to remember this holiday season. Jesus is the worlds greatest gift...He is the gift to be shared above all others with family and friends. It is not only our responsibility, but our JOY. Consider: 1) Which tradition of Christmas is the most important to your family and why? 2) Is there anything you do that could be eliminated without losing the Christmas spirit to help you feel less overwhelmed?
