Courtesy of her trainer Leonie Sanders- Tamara Cooper is currently undertaking the ASbA program at the Ringwood branch. Tamara has always given her all at the branch and is committed to improving her skills. Tamara also throws herself in to helping others. However this has not always been the case. In year 10 Tamara admits that she was heading down a dangerous road. She was skipping school and was often in trouble. Because of this she was selected to take part in the Wildside program at school and attended a 9 day 90km hike and was mentored while there. She believes this turned her life around. Tamara now is revelling in leadership roles at school and in the community which include: • School Captain • Represented her school in district cross country • Peer support on an 8 day sailing trip for trouble youth • Received a Maroondah Youth Award for resilience • Was a Beacon Ambassador • Victoria Police Youth Corps helping young trouble youth • Peer leader at an EACH camp Tamara believes that the ASbA program at Reece is helping to further build her confidence & life experience. Tamara has so much to look forward to now and wants to continue helping others and mentoring trouble youth and is looking ahead to a career in the Police Force where she can really contribute to the community. What a turn around. Great work Tamara.
