Crafters Call March 2013 Membership and Meeting Attendance Beginning at the May meeting, we will be requesting a small donation for participating members who attend meetings. Participating members are those who have not paid for an annual membership. The intent is to encourage active membership, without preventing new members from dipping their toe into a meeting or two. The donation is only $5, compared to the $3/mo active membership, and it is optional: if someone cant or wont pay, we wont make a fuss. But with all the work that the officers put into every meeting, we will be a little disappointed! Hudson Valley Homebrewers Contest Several of our members entered the Hudson Valley Homebrewers Contest, held March 15, and some placed! Michael Donnelley 2nd place in Light/Amber Hybrid with Kolsch But No Cigar 1st place in Sour Ale with Ned Flanders Red 2nd place in Smoked / Wood Aged Beer with Booze Barrel Stout Rian Colbert 2nd place (tied) in Light Lager / Pilsner with Pils, co-brewed with Zach 1st place in Bock with Rian With An Eisbock 2nd place in Belgian Strong Ale with B.G.S. III 1st place in Strong Ale with American Barleywine Congratulations, and thanks for doing Albany Brew Crafters proud! If you have a prize in mind or a contact to introduce him to, get in touch - jwaldronbiker@gmail Inclement Weather Policy This winter seemed to have bad weather every Wednesday, and last months meeting was no exception! The low turnout prompted the officers to announce a policy so everyone knows whether the meeting is on or not. Its actually pretty simple: if The Ruck is open, theres a meeting. The Ruck doesnt close very often (if at all), so you can also think of this policy as the meeting will go on. Of course, depending on your drive and your assessment of the weather, you should make your own choices as to whether to attend!
